Hortobágy National Park

Hortobágy National Park is a vast area of lowlands and marshes located in eastern Hungary. It was established in 1973 and became the country's first and largest national park. Hortobágy is a unique region with diverse flora and fauna, including many rare and endangered species. The national park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the European Green Belt. Hortobágy is a paradise for birdwatchers and an important migratory bird stopover. Visitors can learn about traditional shepherding activities and cultural heritage, such as the famous Hungarian grey cattle and the Nine-holed Bridge, an iconic local landmark.
